Science Daily had a short article the other day that briefly addresses the lack of bone and blood vessel integration with titanium implants. While pure titanium is biocompatible so as to not stimulate an immune response in the body, this same trate makes it incapable of stimulating new bone growth around the implant. The article discusses experimental results of a product used to coat the titanium surface of implants.
